O Holy Triune God

O Holy Triune God:

Who can fathom Your mysteries and probe Your limits? Your thoughts are nothing like my thoughts and Your ways are far beyond anything I could imagine.

Thank You for revealing Yourself to me through creation. I stand amazed at Your sheer beauty as I gaze out my window. Bradford pear trees are budding, and daffodils have bloomed again. I grapple with the idea of making a cloud appear in Your sky! LORD, there is no one like you! For You are great, and Your Name is full of majestic power.

The Name and the Testimony of Jesus reveal all Your power and strength! As I mediate on Your Holy Name, I bow my heart before You, the King of kings. “O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!”

You are One God in Three. How can this be? “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”  In the beginning, You created the heavens and the earth. “The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters.”

Yet You the Spirit of God were there hovering over the surface of the waters. And You began to put all Your creative power on display! You said, “Let there be light. And there was light!” As I live and breathe, I can scarce take it in! Let me pause to breathe, to creative “Ruach,” Your breath that paints the canvas of creation.

I stand on the Rock, the Name of Jesus, that I have eternal life through Christ alone. I have the confidence to declare that anything I ask according to Your will, You hear and answer my prayers. Your Holy Spirit makes my faith bold!

You contain all knowledge, wisdom and understanding. Whether I look to you as my Father, My Savior or My Advocate, You have all the answers! There is no other God but You; there is none but You. one God.

In You lies the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might! Yes, even the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord!

Help me exhibit Your character, O Heavenly Father! I choose to walk in love, mercy, justice, holiness, Your endless compassion. You taught Your disciples to pray, “Our Father.” I declare forever You are my Abba Father!

Expand my finite mind, God. Meditating on You and Your Word makes my soul soar (and my brain explode)! In my spirit, I am rooted and grounded. I bow before You as I close to declare, ‘You are my God, my Father, My Savior and my strong Advocate.’

AMEN.

One Word Transforms

Twelve years ago, I read a book by Jon Gordon called One Word That Will Change Your Life.  This little book altered my perspective forever a about setting goals and making new year resolutions!

Resolutions vs. One Word

How well do you keep your New Year Resolutions? The mere thought of making a resolution conjures bad memories. I historically fail to keep them. Jon’s little book showed me a way to change my life from the inside out.  Jon’s One Word idea shifted me from a human “doing” into a human “being.”  What matters more is who I am becoming, not what I’m accomplishing!  One Word each year has strengthened my character and my walk with God.

When I review my One Word list, it instantly reminds me what happened that year. I can feel reactions. I can remember transformation. One Word kept me steady.  (A couple times, I couldn’t narrow it down to one word; I used two.  Grace, grace!)

God has used ONE WORD every year to keep me standing in faith that He is in control of the chaos.

Let’s take a look at my One Words:

2023 – reveal

2022 – unity

2021 – capable

2020 – flourish

2019 – commit

2018 – diligence

2017 – intention

2016 – speak up

2015 – revival

2014 – purge

2013 – clarity

2012 – joyful energy

How Do I Get My One Word?

In child-like faith, I ask God to give me His One Word.  And then I hear it!

It’s like what happens when reading your Bible.  A passage or verse or word illuminates off the page (or screen).  No stress.  No overthinking it.  No asking a million questions.

Wait. Expect. Listen.

When it comes, you’ll know.

God is always speaking to us. You may hear Him in a song, a sermon, a book or your Bible, a movie, a billboard or a nature walk. When you try this, you may hear the thought, “This is my imagination!”

It’s not your imagination; it’s God speaking!

God created us to create. To have ideas. To make things with our hands. To orate. To write. To think.  Most of the time the thought you’re having (when you’re asked Him a question), it’s is from God. We are fashioned in His image.  He is creative.  We are creative.

Ask God to confirm the One Word He speaks to you. And He will.

You’ll hear it again somewhere.  You’ll read it again in a book or in the Bible.  No worries.  You’ll “know.” It will cross your mind. Again and again.

Hope: My Miscarriage Hope

This is a repost from a dear friend’s blog: keviana.com

Hey, I just wanted to address something no one ever addressed for me… After every miscarriage, I both felt and thought I was an “American dream” and “Christian wife” failure. And I hurt— really hurt— on the inside with identity loss. My thoughts became really solid after my last baby’s passing, and they said, If […]
